Homeless young people (16 and 17 years old)

Surrey County Council's Youth Support Service (YSS) has a scheme to prevent homelessness in young people of 16 and 17.

The YSS can:
•arrange an assessment of the young person's needs
•work with families to help reconcile problems so the young person can return home. It can undertake on-going family work if appropriate
•help identify a suitable family member or friend whom the young person can stay with for a short period whilst reconciliation takes place
•in a crisis situation, provide a temporary bed in supported accommodation and help the young person identify the right next steps
•support completion of the 'common referral form' for accommodation providers.

If you are homeless and aged 16 or 17 years old, please contact the Youth Homelessness Prevention Service on 01483 519198 or by email at ysshomeless.prevention@surreycc.gov.uk. If you need to contact them outside of office hours, you can do so on 01483 517898.

More information can be found in the Preventing homelessness amongst young people leaflet.
