Renting in the Private Sector
Information for Tenants
Housing in Runnymede is in great demand and cannot be met through social housing alone. There are currently over 1300 applicants on the housing register, however on average only 160 properties become available each year to meet this demand.
For most people, renting in the private sector is the best way to find a home. In some cases we are able to assist with the funding of a private rental if you are unable to do this yourself. The Council can provide either a security bond or a cash deposit* and rent in advance*, where required. We are also able to help with up to £150 towards agents fees.
To be considered for the Private Rental Sector Scheme you will need to be referred by a Housing Officer and complete an application form.
Information for Prospective Tenants
(* cash deposits and rent in advance are provided in the form of a loan which must be repaid from the start of the tenancy)
